‘Amazon rains on rivals with songs in the cloud’

12 Apr

A new feature is being introduced by Amazon to allow users to store their music on the database rather than storing it on a home computer.

This new ‘cloud’ feature is compatible with several different social networking and sharing sites such as FaceBook and Flicker.

The benefits to this scheme are plentiul- the ease and efficiency of music downloading, obviously being number one.

However, this new feature will once again challenge the rules regarding peer-to-peer file sharing and copyright regulations. It also provides an example of how much control certain internet databases have over our everyday existence, whether we realise it or not.

It will be interesting to see how the recording industries combat this new wave and style of music listening.
